Mastering is the process of putting the finishing touches to the mixed song in the Recording Studio so that it can be released, usually digitally on CD or on streaming platforms. But a special mastering is also necessary for the release on vinyl.
There are also different approaches to mastering. Digital and analogue or preferably both!
As with mixing, we work with a hybrid approach to mastering. Changes to the master can therefore be made precisely and at any time.
Since we mix and master many different projects every day, the reproducibility of settings is absolutely indispensable. For normal mastering, a stereo track is usually delivered as a Wav file with a resolution of 24bit / 44kHz (or higher).
We are happy to produce a test master if this is desired. Our available plug-ins and devices are presented on our Studio Technology subpage (click here). We also offer stem mastering.
With stem mastering, the producer supplies his tracks in the form of groups, e.g. drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, vocals, choir and effects. Here you can intervene even more decisively in the sound and the result is often even better than with pure stereo mastering.
Good preparation and clear agreements help in any case to achieve a professional sound. It is also important to take the time a song or an album needs to be released for eternity in this "digital" world.
